Sekgosese Detectives secure heavy sentence for murder accused

The Police in this Province continue to enjoy long jail terms given to serious and violent criminals which is a milestone achievement in the fight against crime head on.

Dimakatso Surprise Mathemane aged 19 from Chabelang village, Thabanatshwana Section in the Sekgosese Policing area was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for murder and 10 years imprisonment for armed robbery by the Sekgosese Regional Court this week.

On the 13 February 2016, the accused robbed Khomotso Mokgerere aged 22 from his tablet phone and further stabbed him to death with a knife, disappeared with that tablet, the Police were notified and reacted swiftly until the accused was arrested in possession of the deceased's tablet within five days.

The deceased was a student in the University of Limpopo outside Polokwane.

The Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba has commended Sekgosese Detectives for the job well done by cracking this serious case within a short space of time, brought this criminal to book and recovered the robbed tablet.

The General has assured the citizens of Limpopo that the SAPS is having dedicated detectives who are ready to serve them with pride, dignity and professionalism at all times but they should continue supplying quality and valuable information about criminal activities in their areas unconditionally.
