Mdantsane Cluster: Forty seven suspects were held by the police for various crimes over the weekend during operation Fiela 2 in Mdantsane Cluster.

Safety of the people and their inhabitants was the main reason for the police to conduct this operation. Police covered the following areas during the course of their duties: Mdantsane, Vulindlela, Inyibiba, Berlin, Cambridge, Macleantown, Bluewater, Mooiplaas, Kei-Mouth and Komga.

Amongst other crimes they were arrested for ranges from murder, rape, carjacking, burglary business, robbery, drunken driving, malicious damage to property, sexual assault, warrant of arrest, burglary business, possession of mandrax, possession of dagga, possession of tik, fraud, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault common.

Liquor operations were conducted on Friday to close down illegal shebeens for selling liquor without liquor license and engaging the tavern owners on the importance of compliance with their liquor license conditions.

Second hand-good shops were also visited to check for compliance with the conditions of their licenses.

These operations are ongoing, we will continue to address crime make sure that our people are and indeed feel safe.

The suspects aged between 19 and 54 years old respectively are due to appear in different Magistrates’ Courts around the Buffalo City, soon for various crimes.
