High density Operation Fiela II yield good results

The South African Police Service in the Province led by the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has embarked on the Simultaneous High Density Operation Fiela II in a number of Clusters, especially in the crime infested areas from yesterday morning until this morning on 15 may 2018.

The main operation was conducted at Mankweng Cluster in the Botlokwa Policing area, the Provincial Commissioner was physically participating in the operation.

The operation composed of the SAPS members from the relevant Security Cluster, role players in partnership with the Community based Crime prevention structures as follows: The Saps Thohoyandou Cluster, Makhado Cluster, Giyani Cluster, Public Order Police Unit, Polokwane VIS and the YCOP, CPF, Immigration Officers and the Provincial Traffic Police.

The objective of this operation was to deal with the cross boarder crimes including vehicle theft crime syndicates, Illegal immigration, mushrooming of drugs and the Road Traffic transgressions. It was conducted through tracing wanted suspects, roadblocks, Vehicle Check Points and the Intelligence driven Tactical operations.

In Dennilton, Vuwani, Tzaneen, Burgersfort and Thohoyandou areas, 88 suspects aged between 20 and 48 were arrested for various offences. One motor vehicle was recovered in Dennilton policing area abandoned, it was reported hijacked in the Gauteng Province, at the Pretoria North cluster in Sinoville Policing area.

One firearm 9mm with 59 live ammunition was recovered and its origin is still being determined through the ongoing Police investigations.

All these arrested suspects will appear before different Magistrate's Courts throughout the Province soon.
