Two suspect arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm in Mitchells Plain

During the early hours of this morning at about 01:20 Mitchells Plain Police Reservists were busy with crime prevention duties in Cathkin Street,Tafelsig when they spotted two suspicious men who jumped over a fence when they saw the police vehicle. The members pursued them and found the two suspects lying in the grass. They were searched which led to the discovery of a 9mm Norinco firearm, without serial number, and nine rounds. The two suspects aged 24 and 20 were arrested and will face a charge of the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition once they have been charged.
