ATM bombed in Thabong, five suspects on the loose

THABONG – Members of Thabong police station received a complaint of ATM bombing at Viva Garage in Constantia Road, Thabong on 17 January 2023 at 00:09.

On arrival at the scene, the ATM was found destroyed by the explosion. A petrol attendant was approached by five unknown men wearing balaclavas and was attacked while sitting in a room. They were allegedly in possession of firearms, and he was instructed to lie on the floor facing downward. After a few minutes, he heard an explosion where after the suspects fled the scene. No vehicle was seen at the scene. The Explosive Unit was summoned to the scene of the crime, where a detonator and a 9mm cartridge were found and seized. A case docket was opened and is being investigated.
