Burglary suspects arrested, stolen property recovered

GQEBERHA – Dedication and devotion to their vocation resulted in the successful apprehension of two alleged burglary suspects.

It is alleged that at about 01:40 this morning, Sunday, 21 August 2022, SAPS Ikamvelihle police officials were patrolling Ngonyama Street, when they noticed a stationary silver BMW in the road. When the police officers approached the said vehicle, two males suddenly jumped into the BMW and sped off. Police members immediately made a u-turn and as they drove passed a residential house, a community member flagged them down and informed them that the suspects perpetrated a burglary at his house. Police members immediately gave chase after the BMW and successfully apprehended the two males at the corners of Addo road and the M17.

Police members also recovered electronic equipment (computers) inside the vehicle that was presumably stolen during the burglary. The value of the property was estimated to be worth R10 000.

The two suspects were arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property and the case of burglary which will run concurrently with this case at court. The two males are due to appear in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Monday, 22 August 2022.
