Community involvement leads to arrest of suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm

WESTERN CAPE – The involvement of communities in the fight against crime proved to be fruitful when members of the Overberg Cluster Task Team received information from members of the public about suspects who are in possession of a firearm in Uitsig, Caledon. The members followed up on the information and investigations led them to a house in Riemvasmaak, where a 37-year-old male was found in possession of a shotgun this morning. The male could not produce a license for the firearm and was arrested.

He is due to make a court appearance in the Caledon Magistrates court tomorrow on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
