GAUTENG – On Tuesday, 14 June 2022 police in Tshwane District arrested a 27-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Soshanguve following a community tip-off.

Members from the Serious and Violent Crime (SVC) Tracing team, Public Order Policing (POPS), Trio Task team and Crime Intelligence (CI) operationalised information and proceeded to the identified address in Soshanguve.

A search led the members to recover an unlicensed firearm and ammunition found in possession of the suspect.

Further investigation revealed that the said firearm is linked to a theft case; opened at Akasia police station last month.

The suspect is expected to appear before a Magistrates’ court soon.
