Dludlu sticks with tried and tested starting eleven for COSAFA final

The South African U-17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana) will face Uguanda in COSAFA U17 Women’s Championships final this afternoon at Francois Xavier Stadium in Port Louis, Mauritius.

Head Coach Simphiwe Dludlu has opted for her tried and tested starting eleven to face the East Africans this afternoon.

Karbo Mohale will earn her fifth international cap between the goal posts while Luyanda Nduli and Philisani Hlela will play at left and right back respectively. The solid centre back pair Shakira O’Malley and Nkateko Nkhuna will be tasked with ensuring that the Ugandan strikers are held at bay.

Nelly Gamede retains her place in defensive midfield alongside Sonika Mzingeli, while Nabeelah Galant and Tiyana Carollissen will have to be very creative at left and right wing.

Bantwana Captain Jessica Wade will play the supporting striker to Oyisa Marhazi.

We want to keep things as simple as possible, the way we have with each match. We are going into this final with the same principle of not putting pressure of the players, we want them to enjoy this experience while learning from it.

We want them to go into this match knowing that they earned their place in the final and the best they can do today is give their best.

Facing Uganda will not be easy. They are a very mature group that always want to score goals, just like we do. They are much bigger and stronger than us but we have tried to plan around this while ensuring that we keep our identity too; said Dludlu.
