With illegal possession of firearms high on our priority list, members of Grassy Park police conducted a search operation at a residence in Parkers Walk Parkwood, Grassy Park early this morning which led to the discovery of a prohibited 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition. The members reacted on information and arrested the suspect with links to a local gang. During his arrest he resisted and was assisted by another male person, who was arrested for hindering a police officer in the execution of duties. Both suspects aged 18 and 34 are expected to make their court appearance in Wynberg once they have been charged.
In an unrelated police intervention, members of the Public Order Policing were conducting crime prevention duties this morning in Delft when they spotted a suspicious male person in Bergbessie Road Rosendal. The 33-year-old suspect, also with links to a gang, was arrested and is due to make his court appearance in Blue Downs once he has been charged.
