I need to build on from this performance and try to cement my place in the squad – Lebo Phiri

Bafana Bafana forward Lebo Phiri was beside himself with joy after the scored the solitary goal, which gave South Africa victory over Sudan.

The win was a much-needed one following the loss against Ghana last week (Thursday, 14 November) in Cape Coast.

After two matches played, Bafana Bafana is now sitting on three points, in third position, while Sudan is still top of the table as they beat Sao Tome e Principe 4-0. Ghana is second.

Phiri says he has waited for a long time to get game time with the national team and now he needs to work harder and build on the performance he displayed against Sudan, which saw him being chosen as the Man of the Match.
