Kanoneiland members nab drug dealer

On Tuesday, 24 September 2019 at approximately 20:30 two vigilant constables namely, Badisa Mogoje and Israel Olyn noticed a male person wearing a reflector jacket carrying a large blue bag in the vineyards in Witkroek in Kanoneiland.

When they approached him, he ran dropping the bag he was carrying. The members managed to apprehend him and after questioning him he admitted that the bag belonged to him.

Upon searching the bag the Constable Badisa Mogaje and Constable Israel Olyn discovered 4,086 kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R20 415. They also found R1200 cash on the suspect.

The 55-year-old suspect was charged for dealing in drugs and will soon appear in the Keimoes Magistrates court.

The station commander of Kanoneiland, Captain Johan Isaacs commended the members for their alertness and vigilance while conducting crime prevention patrols and their contribution in removing drugs from the streets.
