NORTHERN CAPE – Members attached to the Kathu Crime prevention unit, accompanied by security officials of Rhino Security and a sniffer dog of Rhino Security Dog tracking unit, responded to a complaint on 29 March 2021 at 22:10, regarding a break in at a Vodacom container at the East Water Reservoir in Kathu.
The team searched the veld area in the vicinity of the Reservoir and found 4 Lithium batteries valued at R400 000-00 abandoned in the veld at 23:25 the same evening.
Unfortunately no suspects were apprehended and the recovered batteries were handed in at the Kathu police station. Police investigations are continuing.
