DURBAN – It is alleged on 18 August 2020 at 07:00, two women aged 42 and 67 were attacked by a known suspect while at their home at Molweni area.
They were stabbed multiple times and sustained severe injuries. They were taken to hospital for medical attention where Hloniphile Hadebe (42) later died due to injuries sustained whilst a 66-year-old woman is still receiving medical attention. The suspect fled the scene after the incident. Police were notified and immediately responded.
The suspect fled to the bottom of the cliff after being chased by police where he fell whilst fleeing. The 34-year-old suspect was then placed under arrest and a knife used was also recovered. He was taken to hospital due to injuries sustained when he fell and he is under police guard.
“I am pleased that the suspect was arrested whilst fleeing. We remain committed to fighting gender-based violence and apprehending all those involved,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Jula.
