MEC Ivan Meyer officially opens Holsloot Weir in Rawsonville, 27 May

Holsloot Weir to be officially opened

Tomorrow, Thursday,27 May 2021, the Western Cape Minister for Agriculture, Dr Ivan Meyer, will officially open the Holsloot Weir near Rawsonville.

The Holsloot Wier, built at the cost of R78 million, responds to the severe damage caused by flooding, alien invasive plants, and damaging ecological maintenance performed within the river.

It links directly to two of the Priority Projects in the Western Cape Government’s SmartAgri Implementation Plan, namely

• The restoration of ecological infrastructure for increased productivity and socio-ecological resilience, and

• Collaborative, integrated catchment management aimed at improving water security and job creation.
