MEC Madoda Sambatha on independent investigation at Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital Complex

The North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha will appoint an independent investigation into allegations of nepotism at the Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital Complex. This follows a list of people supposedly appointed through nepotism that is making rounds in social media platforms. The allegations of nepotism and the list brought uncertainty and some members of community have threatened protest action. It is on this basis that MEC Sambatha deemed it fit to intervene.

The MEC is also considering possibilities of taking over the recruitment process from both Klerksdorp Health subdistrict and the Klerksdorp/Tsepong complex and appoint a Provincial Recruitment Task Team whilst the investigation is proceeding until there is formal findings on the matter.

The MEC will meet with all the structures of Matlosana(ward council, unions and Health subdistrict forum on Monday, 20 January 2020 at 12h00- the Chief Director Nela Mojanaga will be coordinating this meeting with the Office of the Speaker and MMC for Health in Matlosana.

The MEC sincerely appreciation for the public vigilante in bringing the matter relating to the authenticity of the allegations list spread in social media.

Klerksdorp-Tshepong hospital complex has assured the community of it’s committed to clean and fair processes of human resource recruitment as governed by DPSA.

As a matter of principle the deliberate neglect of government recruitment policy entrusted to recruitment panel and the corrupt practices allegations pertaining to those employees mentioned on the list, in particular those who were involved in selections, interviews and actual appointment are currently under investigation.

Based on preliminary investigations outcomes the hospital will immediately suspend the perpetrators who connived to bring Klerksdorp-Tshepong into disrepute by allegedly recruiting their relatives/families and deliberately made the hospital management unduly sign such appointment.

The MEC reassures the public that pending the outcomes of the final internal investigations, an appropriate action would be taken against such employees.

The MEC appeal to the staff public and our community at large to allow the health authorities to deal decisively with the allegations. Kindly remain calm and allow due processes to unfold.

The public will be updated with the outcomes of the investigations.
