Employment and Labour Minister, TW Nxesi to address the 3rd Annual CCMA Shop Stewards and Union Officials Conference

Employment and Labour Minister is set to deliver the keynote address to the opening of the 3rd Annual Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) Shop Stewards and Union Officials Conference at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

The two day-conference under the theme: The National Minimum Wage: The Post Implementation Conversation will be held from 12-13 September 2019. The event will bring together hundreds of shop stewards and union officials across federations from all over the country.

Nxesi is to deliver an address on the subject of challenges faced by the shop stewards and union officials amidst changing legislative environment and policy and the nature of work.

Some of the speakers expected to address the 3rd CCMA’s Conference include the organisations’ Governing Body Chairperson, Mr Makhulu Ledwaba; National Minimum Wage Commission Chairperson, Prof Adrian van der Walt; CCMA Director, Cameron Sello Morajane; University of Cape Town (UCT) Development Policy Research Unit Director, Prof Haroon Bhorat; AgriSA Head of Human Resources, Labour and Development, Ms Jahni de Villiers; Commission for Employment Equity Chairperson, Tabea Kabinde; CCMA Senior Commissioner, Eleanor Hambidge; and CCMA Acting National Senior Commissioner: Dispute Prevention and Training, William Thomson.

There will also be plenaries to discuss topics such as: the National Minimum Wage legislation post implementation � the journey ahead, effect on retrenchment, NMW implementation in Agriculture and lessons for other sectors; employment equity in the workplace and the role of shop stewards and union officials; dispute prevention and management in the era of the NMW.
