Mooinooi police apprehend former mine employees for illegal gathering

BRITS – On Monday, 27 July 2020 at about 08:00, 14 suspects aged between 23 and 51 were apprehended by the police for contravention of the Disaster Management Act of 2020. Amongst them 11 males and 3 females.
According to information available at this stage, the police were alerted by the management of the local mine that former employees have gathered outside the premises and are refusing to leave. It is further alleged that the gathering emanates from a dispute internal over unresolved internal matters
They were later released on warning and are expected to appear before Brits Magistrates court on Monday, 24 August 2020, for contravening the said lockdown regulation.
