Mopani District Commissioner joins MEC for Transport and Community Safety for an oversight visit

MAAKE – The District Commissioner of Mopani Major General Willy Mashavha had today, on Friday 13 May 2022 joined the MEC for Transport and Community Safety Mrs Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya when she conducted an oversight visit in Maake outside Tzaneen.

The District Commissioner was joined by Vispol Head Brigadier Mashile M.V, Zone 1 Commander and Tzaneen Station Commander Brigadier Masenamela, Station Commanders from Mopani District, K9 Unit, other members, Traffic officers and Community Policing Forum.

The purpose of the oversight visit was to assess the level of service delivery and engage with community members.

The programme which was divided into four phases, commenced with a tour at Maake Police Station, led by the Station Commander Colonel Maluleke who then outlined the activities of the day and presented on the challenges at the station.

The MEC gave remarks with regard to the outlined challenges faced by the Police.The District Commissioner also gave his response on the matter.

The entourage thereafter paid un-announced visit to Mabushe high school, where the MEC addressed the learners on the dangers of hitchhiking, substance abuse, rape and human trafficking. Furthermore, a search operation was conducted by the K9 team around the school.

As part of the activities, the dignitaries conducted a Door to Door awareness campaign and the MEC continued to address the households on some of the pressing issues such as gender-based violence, high rate of assault cases and drug abuse.

The activities ended with a roadblock along the R36 road when the team engaged with motorists and passengers. In total, 3000 safety pamphlets were distributed during the campaigns.
