JOE GQABI DISTRICT – SAPS members in the Joe Gqabi District continued with excellent work that yielded positive successes in Operation Sikhona for the period 21 to 28 August 2022.
A total of five liquor outlets were closed down and fined for trading without a license and Liquor were confiscated.
A further three suspects were arrested for possession of drugs by Elliot K9 and Aliwal North K9 and Venterstad. A total of 59 parcels of dagga and 5 parcels tik were confiscated.
The JGD OCC arrested a suspect for business burglary and recovered a welding and grinding machine.
The suspects also ran away when confronted and left a blue bag behind with suspected stolen property.
At Mount Fletcher a suspect was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as several dangerous weapons were confiscated.
During the week roadblocks were held in various stations within the Joe Gqabi District. The roadblocks focussed on road traffic compliance, drunken driving, road safety, drug related offences, illegal firearms, stock theft and illegal immigrants. A total of 102 vehicles and 188 persons were searched.
During Operation Sikhona, a total of 65 arrests were effected during the week.
