BLOEMFONTEIN – The police at Parkweg are investigating the execution-style killing of the 31-year-old male in Monument Road, Oranjesig on Sunday, 15 January 2023 at about 22:45. According to the witness, the victim was driving with him in a Silver Hyundai i10 from the city to home.

A white Volkswagen Scirocco went past them in Monument Road and the witness alleges that he heard two loud bangs. Suddenly, the white Scirocco halted in front of them, blocking their way near the entrance.

Three males jumped out of the Scirocco and charged toward the Hyundai i10 and at that point, he started running in the direction of the City. One of the suspects gave chase, and while he was running, shots were fired. The suspect who had been running after the witness, gave up the chase.

The witness went back to where he left the motor vehicle and found the victim lying motionless on his stomach on the pavement. The police were called and arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigation started, and it was discovered that the victim had three gunshot wounds. Two (2) spent 9mm cartridges were collected as evidence from the scene. A murder case was opened at Parkweg Police Station.
