Mahikeng: Police have uncovered the body of a woman reported missing, identified as Motlalepule Kau, in a shallow grave between Tlakgameng and Kudunkgwane villages, near Ganyesa, outside Vryburg. The discovery was made on Thursday, 24 April 2025, following forensic leads that guided the investigation team to the location.
According to South African Police Service, the body was confirmed by a next of kin as that of the 43-year-old woman who was reported missing at Mahikeng police station on Wednesday, 23 April 2025. The investigation is ongoing, with police actively searching for a person of interest.
Major General Patrick Asaneng, Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in North West, stated that the motive for the murder remains unknown. However, police are pursuing a suspect who is believed to have some of the deceased’s clothing at his residence. The suspect, who claims to be a traditional healer, has disappeared, and police are working to locate him.
