GQEBERHA – Two firearms were recovered and a 28-year-old suspect was arrested by members of the NMB District Crime Combatting Unit yesterday afternoon, 14 June 2022 in Kwadwesi.

It is alleged that at about 15:00 members acted on information received that firearms were at a shop in Mkhize Street. The premises was thoroughly searched and two firearms with ammunition were found hidden between clothing in an adjoining room. Ownership of the firearms are yet to be established. The firearms will be sent to ballistics for analysis.

The suspect is detained on a charge of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. He is expected to appear in court soon.
