Police visibility yielded good results

EASTERN CAPE – Police visibility and stop and search operations around the District yielded good results when a 19-year-old man was arrested by the National Intervention Unit members at Jubilee Taxi Rank in the CBD area today at about 11h30. The suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition. He will be profiled to establish if he can be linked to other crimes and the firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing. He will appear before Mthatha Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man was arrested by Madeira Visible Policing for possession and dealing in drugs after he was found in possession of six (06) Boss Mandrax tablets and R300 in cash at Nelson Mandela drive today at about 10h30. He will be caused to appear before Mthatha Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Lastly, a 30-year-old man was arrested by Operational Command Centre members who were conducting body searches at Flagstaff CBD today at about 10h00. The suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of twelve (12) full, 1 × half, 1 × quarter Mandrax and R70 in cash. He will appear before Flagstaff Magistrate’s Court tomorrow facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
The District Commissioner Major General David Kanuka commended all the operatives.
