Provincial commissioner welcomes 18 years imprisonment handed to a murder accused

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, welcomed the 18 years imprisonment sentence handed down to Thabo Mashabane (34) by the Atamelang Regional Court on Friday, 8 July 2022.

Mashabane’ sentencing emanated from his arrest on Saturday, 28 August 2021, at Madibogo village outside Mahikeng for killing a 29-year-old Ohaletse Loabile. It was reported that the pair had a quarrel few days before the fatal incident. The angry Mashabane went to the victim’s home broke the windows and the door of his house. Loabile tried to run away but the latter chased and hacked him with a spade. Following the incident, Loabile was declared dead at the scene. The convict has been in custody since his arrest.

Lieutenant General Kwena praised the police and prosecution for ensuring the arrest and subsequent conviction of the accused.
