Robbers to spend 20 years in jail

DURBAN: On 30 July 2021, the Pinetown Regional Court sentenced Malungelo Ngwabe (58) and Mondli Skhosana (50) to 20 years imprisonment each for charges of robbery, theft and kidnapping. Skhosana was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Their sentence emanates from robbery charges committed at Amanzintoti during 2014. Their modus operandi was to target victims who had withdrawn their money from the bank. They would drop a bag with money in front of them and convince them to split the money.

The suspects would pose as police officers and kidnap the victims to a secluded area where they will be robbed of their belongings. Three victims were robbed on different occasions during 2014. The accused made several court appearances until their sentence.
