Sixteen suspects apprehended for cases including possession of drugs, stolen properties and possession of unlicensed firearm

POLOKWANE – SAPS Limpopo Highway Patrol Team and Flying Squard have arrested 16 suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of drugs, possession of stolen properties amongst other cases.

Four suspects aged between 23 and 34 were arrested for business robbery and burglary cases that occurred on Friday, 10 February 2023 at a shop in Jane Furse.

In Modimolle, Police arrested two suspects both aged 30 for armed robbery.

Members of Limpopo Highway Patrol received information about the suspects driving a white Polo that committed armed robbery in Modimolle. The vehicle was spotted at Mantsole, and was approached by members. The vehicle marching the discription was stopped, searched and suspects also arrested.

A 31-year-old suspect was nabbed for possession of illicit cigarettes at Mahwelereng by Flying Squad members. He was found in possession of two boxes and 130 cartoons of illicit cigarettes with the street value of R20 000-00.

Two suspects arrested separately after being found in possession of drugs in Polokwane City. Police confiscated 200 sachets of nyaope at a street value of R10 000-00 and 03 sachets of crystal meth at street of R5 000-00.

A suspect aged 40, was apprehended for possession of drugs at Polokwane Indian centre. He was found in possession of 40 sachets of nyaope.

Police arrested a 36-year-old suspect for dealing and possession of crystal meth and rock in Westenburg, on Friday 10 February 2023. The drugs worth estimated Street value of R20 000.

Three suspects aged between 28 and 41 were arrested at Makgofe village for dealing and possession of dagga. The Police were busy with their routine patrols when they received information about a silver grey VW Polo that distributes dagga around Lithuli Park and Moletji Mmotong. The vehicle was then spotted at Makgofe. They stopped it, and searched it and found dagga with estimated value of R5 000.

On Friday, 10 February 2023 Police arrested three suspects aged between 35 and 38 at Westenburg, for possession of unlicensed firearm, conspiracy to commit house breaking and possession of housebreaking implements. Police recovered firearm, hand gloves, screw drivers, plier, hammer, balaclava spanner and a Toyota bakkie was seized.

Police arrested business and house robbery suspect aged 36, on Saturday 11 February 2023 at Olifatshoek village. The robbery incident was reported at Hlanganani SAPS.

A 40-year-old suspect arrested, on Saturday 11 February 2023, for business robbery incident that occurred at Moletjie Mashobohleng Percy Wholesale. Upon following the leads, they found a black BMW 3 series that was allegedly used to commit this robbery and some of the stolen items such as alcohol, cigarettes, computers and Plasma TV stored in garage at Ivy Park in Polokwane.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the members for good work and continuously arresting criminals. She also appreciated the community members for positively contributing in the fight against crime.

Some of the suspects had already appeared before local magistrates.
