South Africa: Provincial Operation Nets 282 Suspects

Potchefstroom: The detectives suspect raiding operation led by the North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane and other senior officers on Thursday, 13 and Friday, 14 October 2016 resulted in apprehension of 282 suspects for numerous offences including rape, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, rape, burglary and many others.

The operation was conducted at all seven policing clusters in the province as part of bringing the levels of crime down in the province.

Out of this number, 73 suspects were arrested in Rustenburg cluster. The suspects are expected to appear in various courts in the province on Monday, 17 October 2016.
