The second edition of the Mwadhina Gwanembenge Combined School tournament is slated for this weekend at the University of Namibia (UNAM) Oshakati campus sports ground.

In an interview with Nampa on Wednesday, school principal Immanuel Aron said the school has put up an investment of N.dollars 20 000 for the successful hosting of the tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

According to Aron, the tournament has attracted a total of 39 teams of which 20 teams are boys football, seven girls football and 12 netball teams.

He indicated that the teams are from schools in the Oshana, Oshikoto, Ohangwena and Omusati regions.

‘This tournament is strictly for our Combined schools in the north, to give our little ones a platform to have fun and showcase their talents,’ he said.

He said they not only focus on teaching but also give their learners a platform to engage with others, enjoy a fun-filled day of sport and for the learners to showcase their talent as they compete for the main prize.

Aron stated that they hope t
o make the tournament bigger and better come next year.

The school also received sporting gear from Old Mutual and Nawa Pharmacy on Wednesday as sponsorship for the school tournament.
