State-of-the-art Home Affairs Office Opens in Mitchells Plain

Pretoria: Home Affairs Minister Dr. Leon Schreiber on Saturday officially opened a new state-of-the-art office in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. He was accompanied by Western Cape MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport, Ricardo Mackenzie, and Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Geordin Hill-Lewis.

According to South African Government News Agency, the new office is modern and spacious, significantly increasing its capacity with 250 seats compared to the previous 50. It also features upgraded technology, including cameras installed directly at each counter, which eliminates the need for queuing to take photos.

Dr. Schreiber stated, “This new office serves as tangible proof to the people of Mitchells Plain that Home Affairs is delivering dignity for all. The vastly improved facilities and technology will transform their daily interactions with our services.”

He further emphasized the initiative’s goal to bring Home Affairs closer to the community, with plans to expand access to services through additional ban
k branches in the coming months, aiming to deliver “‘Home Affairs @ home’.”
