Suspect wanted for absconding court

NORTHERN CAPE – The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the whereabouts of Matthieu Ndjayi-Shongo (42), who was charged for an alleged possession of abalone.

The team arrested Ndjayi-Shongo and Matundu Vangu (53) during February 2020 after intercepting their vehicle that was allegedly transporting dried abalone on the N1 road between Cape Town and Gauteng. A thorough search of the truck revealed 43 boxes of dried abalone weighing about 860kg valued at approximately R7 million.

Ndjayi-Shongo as per attached picture made a series of court appearances and was released on R30 000-00 bail. During August 2021, Ndjayi-Shongo was set to stand trial but he absconded.
