NELSPRUIT – As the wheels of 2022/2023 Safer Festive Season Operation roll, successes are being achieved including a suspected stolen vehicle, a white Hyundai H1 which was recovered by the police in the early hours of today, 23 December 2022 near Oshoek Port of Entry at around 03:00.
According to preliminary investigation, the identification numbers of the car was tempered with. It was also discovered by the astute members that the car was reportedly stolen at Jeppe in Gauteng Province on 10 December 2022. Police cannot rule out the possibility that the truck could have been destined to cross the border into nearby countries when the mission was intercepted by the men and women in blue. No one has been arrested yet but members are still investigating.
Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has praised members for their unwavering vigilance which resulted in the commendable success.
