NORTHERN CAPE – Ashwin Peters (21), Jimmy Adams (27) and Malachi Solomons (43), made a brief appearance at Kimberley Magistrate Court on Friday for illegal possession and transporting crayfish.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 05 August 2020 by the Francis Baard Tracing Team.
The members spotted a suspicious vehicle on the N12 road on the way to Warrenton.
The vehicle was cornered at a filling station and during the search the members discovered a load of crayfish tails inside a number of cooler boxes.
The suspects could not provide necessary permit and as a result, they were immediately arrested. About 6445 crayfish tails valued at around R644 500 have since been seized.
The three suspects were granted R5 000-00 bail each and the case is postponed to 28 September 2020 pending further investigations.
