Two arrested for public violence during Hertzogville unrest

HERTZOGVILLE – A case of public violence is under investigation after community members disrupted schools and looted shops.

An elderly woman and 17-year-old boy were arrested for public violence in Hertzogville after two days of service delivery protests.

Public Order Police vehicles were pelted with stones and the roads barricaded with burning tyres. Police are monitoring the situation and are maintaining strong visibility in the area to restore law and order.

The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Major General Lerato Molale called on members of the community to raise their grievances through the available channels or relevant authorities to resolve their concerns. Rather than resorting to looting shops and disrupting schools in Hertzogville. “At the same time we will never tolerate lawlessness”, added Major General Molale.
