Two brothers appear in court for murder

NELSPRUIT – Two brothers aged 43 and 49 appeared on Tuesday, 20 September 2022 before the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in connection with a murder case. Dalton Manvuvo Mkhatshwa (43) and Zwelithini Goodwill Mkhatshwa (49) were remanded in custody during their court appearance and their case was postponed to Thursday, 22 September 2022.

According to the information, their court appearance emanates from an incident which took place on 05 September 2022 at around 01:00 am whereby a fight reportedly broke out between two men at Boschfontein. At that time it was reported that the two, Nicholas Nkalanga (41) and Regional Mkhatshwa (31) fought and mysteriously killed each other but nobody knew exactly of the circumstances nor details thereof. Anyway the matter was reported to the police where a case with two counts of murder was opened.

A team of experts in the field of investigation was tasked to probe the case. In searching for the truth, the astute members uncovered some information which revealed that Regional Mkhatshwa’s siblings allegedly killed Nicholas Nkalanga. After doing a spade work in their probe, the members arrested the two brothers on Monday, 19 September 2022 then charged them with murder hence the court appearance. The motive for the killing is currently unclear.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has commended the investigators for the sterling work done which showed professionalism and expertise in handling cases. “We are appreciative of the skills and exceptional qualities displayed by the investigators who did not take things at face value but digged deep until they came out with concrete information that we believe can stand before court and possibly lead to the prosecution of the suspects. We hope that the public can continue to have confidence in the ability of the SAPS to tackle crime” emphasised the General.
