EASTERN CAPE – SAPS members’ endeavours to prevent the proliferation of illegal firearms yield positive results during a multidisciplinary operation held in the Palmietfontein area.

Yesterday in the early hours of the morning, members of CI, Aliwal North K9 and POPS together with Palmietfontein crime prevention and the Sterkspruit detectives departed to the Qoboshane admin area to follow up information.

A suspect was identified to be the shooter in an attempted murder case at Qoboshane village on 2022-03-27 where the victim was shot twice through the window in the upper body.

The suspects’ house was searched and four rounds of live ammunition and two firearms a 9mm pistol and revolver were discovered and seized in his house.

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested and will appear before court on the charges of the unlawful possession of the firearms and ammunition.

The acting District Commissioner Brig Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the successful combined operation and the confiscation of the firearms.
