Two house robbery suspects arrested after showing up at crime scene: Gqeberha

GQEBERHA – Two alleged house robbery suspects had the audacity to walk passed the house soon after they robbed it while police were busy attending to the complaint on Friday evening, 4 February 2022 in Buthelezi Street in Ikamvelihle.

It is alleged that on the mentioned date at about 21:30, the 33-year-old complainant had arrived home and as she had just locked her vehicle in the garage, she was accosted by two unknown males who pointed her with a firearm. Her wallet, cellphone, car and house keys were taken from her before shoving her into the house. The complainant’s brother was also threatened .The suspects ransacked the house and drove off with the complainant’s car, a charcoal grey Chevrolet Cruze. After a while, the suspects returned and took more items from the house. Four cellphones, a laptop, a plasma TV set, bankcards and a wallet were among some of the items taken.

At about 23:30, while SAPS Ikamvelihle members were at the scene busy taking statements and interviewing the victims outside, the two suspects were seen walking passed the house. They were immediately recognised by the victims and arrested.

The stolen vehicle was recovered, abandoned on Saturday morning, 5 February 2022 in a side street not far from the house. The stolen items have not yet been recovered.

The suspects aged 29 and 36 years are expected to appear in the New Brighton magistrate court on Monday on a charge of house robbery.
