Pretoria: The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has cautioned residents about the possibility of scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers affecting most parts of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo, with isolated occurrences over the eastern parts of Limpopo. This weather pattern is attributed to a cut-off low pressure system located over the central interior of the country.
According to South African Government News Agency, the cut-off low pressure system is causing these weather conditions, which have the potential to escalate into severe thunderstorms. These storms may lead to flooding, large amounts of small hail, and excessive lightning, affecting the aforementioned regions. SAWS emphasized the need for caution, as these weather phenomena could have significant impacts on the affected areas.
Additionally, a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures is expected across most parts of the country starting from Wednesday. However, temperatures are anticipated to gradually recover from Friday onwards, providing some relief to the affected regions.
SAWS has committed to monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates as necessary. Residents are encouraged to stay informed by following SAWS on various social media platforms, including X (@SAWeatherServic) and Facebook (South African Weather Service), for real-time updates and information.
