WINDHOEK: Westair Aviation extended a message of condolences to the families of three of its employees who perished in an aircraft accident in Windhoek’s Pioneerspark residential area on Friday.

The Cessna 406 aircraft with the registration V5-ASB crashed at Pioneerspark, shortly after take-off from the Eros Airport in Windhoek.

In a media statement, West Air Group of Companies said a full comprehensive investigation will be initiated in collaboration with aviation experts and relevant authorities to understand the exact cause of the accident.

”The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew are our highest priority, and we are committed to understanding the exact cause of this incident,’ it said, adding that the company is coordinating with local emergency services and authorities to provide immediate assistance and support.

‘We are determined to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to prevent such an incident from occurring again.

ected by this tragedy. We extend our deepest sympathies in this difficult time,’ read the statement.

According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Friday, two pilots and one mechanic were burnt beyond recognition after the aircraft took off from Eros Airport to reportedly conduct a maintenance test flight. The aircraft crashed into two residential premises. No other fatalities have been confirmed.
